Specification
Remove existing Mondo surfacing from plywood deck of indoor-banked track. Carry out repairs to steel subframe and prepare/replace existing plywood boards as necessary. Supply and lay new Mondo Sportflex Superx surface with Mondo P300 two-part polyurethane adhesive.

The project was tendered by Birmingham City Council

Consultant / Architect
The installation was designed in consultation with Bernhard’s Sports Surfaces Limited, Mondo and Birmingham City Council – Urban Design.

Client details
The National Indoor Arena is managed by the NEC Group, which also includes the National Exhibition Centre, the NEC Arena, the ICC and the Symphony Hall.

The athletics track is situated in the community hall and can be dismantled and re-erected to allow other events such as music concerts to take place. The venue is the largest indoor athletics stadium in the UK and hosts the British Leg of the Indoor Grand Prix.

Mondo was the official track supplier of the last eight Olympic Games, the last six Outdoor World Championships and the last eight Indoor World Championships. Years of research in partnership with coaches, athletes and biomechanical experts provide Mondo with a wealth of knowledge that we apply to develop the products they manufacture. 

The Mondo research centres in Italy, Canada and Spain also work in close collaboration with world-renowned sports science laboratories.
