Specification
Full size hockey pitch with sand dressed surface on Insity Shock Pad laid over 2 course macadam engineered base. The project included installation of weldmesh surround fencing and floodlighting. The high specification installation is designed solely for hockey use and complements an existing sand filled pitch used by the school for multi-use.

The project was tendered by the school followed by a post tender review and negotiation with the client’s representative.

Client Details
Located in a self-contained 100 acre site, Bromsgrove School is a major British co-educational independent boarding and day school enjoying a growing academic and sporting reputation both within the UK and overseas. Attracting pupils from 23 different countries and having a student population of 1300, the schools employs 450 members of staff.

During the last 10 years Bromsgrove School has become a major Hockey force at Regional and National level for boys and girls. The under 18’s have been National Outdoor Champions on 5 occasions and Indoor Champions 4 times. The boys regularly reach the National Indoor Finals and have been Runners-up on 4 occasions.  The outdoor sides always progress to the later stages of the Regional Rounds in all three age groups. The school’s coaching staff have all played at International level and rotate regularly around all the teams.

The existing sand filled pitch is an excellent facility for general use but does not met the top quality standard demanded by the level at which they play. After much consultation with other major schools in the UK and various visits to similar installations, the client’s representatives unanimously choose Bernhard’s Sports Surfaces Limited with a hockey xtreme stand dressed turf.
